Dr Jean Pascal Demba DIOP studied Pharmacy at the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Odontology of University Cheikh Anta DIOP of Dakar, and graduated in 2014. After PharmD he was interested in genetics and obtained a Master degree in Population Genetics in 2014. He recently defenced his PhD thesis in Human Genetics in July 2019. Since his PharmD thesis, Dr DIOP worked on genetic predisposition to hereditary breast cancer, particularly BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes mutation spectrum in Senegalese women with hereditary breast cancer.
He obtained interesting results including the identification of a novel BRCA2 mutation identified in a consanguineous family, a founder BRCA1 mutation in women with hereditary breast cancer and developed a simple and fast method for identification of this mutation in women at risk. Actually, he is a Temporary Research Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Odontology of University Cheikh Anta DIOP.
